One of the region’s largest Ford dealerships has won an elusive honor that it has pursued for years.

Bill Brown Ford, 32222 Plymouth Road in Livonia, has been named the world’s top Ford dealership by sales volume for 2021. This honor brings the award of best selling dealership back to Ford’s original state after several decades. : Dealerships in Florida and California have been the first gainers in volume over the past 30 years.

David Tashman, general manager of the dealership, said Bill Brown Ford had maintained a lead for much of the year, calling the end of the year a bit anti-climax.

“We have just extended this lead month by month,” he said.

The dealership, which offers new and used vehicle sales, as well as a service center, has been in business since 1914 and has been on Plymouth Road in Livonia for around 70 years. Bill Brown Ford has regularly brushed against the honor in previous years: it was no. 2nd in the world last year, finishing second behind Brandon Ford of Tampa, Fla.

The accolade won by Bill Brown Ford is believed to be the first time a Michigan dealer has won the title in decades, Tashman said.

Dealership management said staff are focused on securing the Best Sales Volume award throughout 2021, with each department focusing on the goal. Tashman said Bill Brown Ford sold 6,297 new vehicles, with many popular models being larger trucks and SUVs. Popular vehicles include the F-150, Edge, and Explorer.

Such a distinction is a crucial step in showing how the Detroit Metro continues to be the automobile capital of the world.

“We do things differently at Bill Brown. We are focused on providing a seamless automotive experience that ensures our customers can move forward on their terms,” said Tom Brown, grandson of Bill Brown, in a press release. “That’s what drives us. Being named the world’s # 1 Ford dealership is a big step forward in our efforts to reinvent the car buying process.”

Tashman said the dealership already has the mindset to defend its title in 2022. It requires connections between its workforce and those who buy vehicles, which the dealership has been proud to do for many, many years.

Having those connections, he said, has proven to be invaluable.

“It’s the relationships between employees and customers that give him great confidence,” he said. “With all of this, we delivered.”
