Twelve franchises have partnered with communities to collect 2,700 shoe boxes containing toys and essentials

ST. JACOBS, ON – December 23, 2021: Thanks to the efforts of a dozen Northern Ontario Home Hardware retailers and the generosity of their customers and communities, over 2,700 shoe boxes filled with toys and products essentials will be delivered to children in need around the world this holiday season. These efforts are part of Operation Christmas Child – an annual initiative hosted by Samaritan’s Purse.

“We are very proud to partner with the Timmins community and support an initiative that gives back globally,” said Pascal Morin, Dealer Owner of Timmins Building Supplies Home Hardware. “We would like to thank our customers for their incredible response and for helping us support Operation Christmas Child’s mission to bring happiness to children in need this holiday season.

The campaign encourages community members to fill shoe boxes with gifts such as school supplies, hygiene products, toys and clothing. Participating Home Hardware stores collect the filled boxes, then Home Hardware Stores Limited assumes the associated shipping costs to transport the boxes to Samaritan’s Purse in Calgary so they can be inspected and sent overseas.

“Operation Christmas Child is a wonderful way for communities to come together this holiday season to bring joy and hope to children affected by poverty, famine and disaster,” said Frank King, director of relations with media for Samaritan’s Purse Canada. “These shoe boxes are shipped to countries in Central America and West Africa and given to children who have probably never received a gift before. This important work is made possible through Home Hardware, which plays a vital role in making our mission a reality.

Home Hardware Stores Limited has been involved in Operation Christmas Child since 1996. The partnership has expanded to include a network of Home stores that participate in the program each year, with Home Hardware distribution centers helping to coordinate shipping of the boxes.
