It seems like we’ve been talking a lot lately about the exterior colors of various Jeep® vehicles. The American adventure brand first announced the addition of two new exterior colors for its 2023 Wrangler/Wrangler Unlimited (JL) lineup last month and earlier this week it again announced the addition of High -Velocity Yellow at his 2023 Jeep Gladiator (JT) pickup.

But thanks to our dealings with dealers, we learn some interesting information about other changes coming to the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee (WL) trio, in terms of color.

The biggest and most confusing move is the elimination of Hydro Blue (PBJ) on the three-row 2023 Grand Cherokee L (WL75) models. However, the color will remain on both 2023 Grand Cherokee / Grand Cherokee 4xe (WL74) models.

It seems strange to us that there is no transparency between the WL74 and WL75 models in the color department.

The next change is the elimination of the Ember Pearl-Coat (PHC) on all three 2023 Grand Cherokee models. The color continues to be displayed on’s Build & Price configurator, however, dealers have informed us that they got “last chance” order availability for the color before the model year change.

There will also be a change when it comes to interior colors. Dealers have been notified of a “last chance” order availability for the Steel Gray (-TA) interior on Overland and Summit models. The color will be removed for options WL74 and WL75.

Finally, those who love the Grand Cherokee’s double-glazed (GWJ) sunroof will learn that it will no longer be available as an option due to semiconductor shortages. The dual-glazed sunroof will remain standard equipment on Overland, Summit and Base 4xe trims. So if you order a Laredo, Altitude, Limited, or Limited Black model, it won’t be available for the foreseeable future.
