CHICAGO — A jury decided Friday that former Chicago police detective Beth Svec was entitled to more than $4.35 million in damages under Illinois whistleblower law.

Svec sued the Chicago Police Department for retaliating against her in 2016 after she presented evidence that contradicted accounts of two officers’ arrests.
