Residents of Winchester and Clark counties will soon have a new local choice for buying an automobile.

Countrytime Motors, operated by Hayes Automotive Group, will soon open a used vehicle dealership to serve those in and around the Winchester area at a location away from Early Dr.

“We have owned this property for [approximately] the 1950s,” said Lara Early Thornbury of Block + Lot Real Estate, who also served as leasing agent for the transaction. “We loved this property and want to see people come to Winchester.

Hayes Automotive Group currently has five dealerships – two in the Louisville market, two in Nashville and one in the Evansville, Indiana area.

Larry Oldham, who will serve as Managing Director and Operator at Countrytime Motors, sees big plans brewing for Winchester.

“We’re going to start as a simple used car lot, with hopes of adding a franchise later,” said Oldham, a longtime employee of Hayes Automotive Group who came out of retirement to return to the automobile company.

Not wanting to move anymore, Oldham’s experience helped him determine that the location on Early Drive offered an ideal location for a dealership.

“It’s the first exit when you come out of Mountain Parkway, so you have access to all of southeast Kentucky,” he said. “I think there’s just [a] great opportunity there. People don’t have to go to Lexington to buy a car.

While Hayes Automotive Group offers dealerships in a number of different brands – including Ford, Nissan and Dodge – they seek to carry on the tradition of the local area.

“This [had] We’ve been a Chevrolet dealership for many years, so we’ll probably focus primarily on Chevrolet,” he said. “I’m sure there’s still a customer base of Chevrolet customers, so we’ll make sure we have at least a good chunk of our stock in that brand.”

In addition to auto sales, Countrytime Motors will be equipped with a service department and will also offer financing opportunities and more.

Opening day is currently scheduled for August 1st.
