SW Car Supermarket, which has centers in Fengate and Werrington, has been acquired by Big Motoring World, with turnover of £ 303million, which has now started work on the company’s rebranding.
The acquisition of the city’s two dealers means Big Motoring World now has 650 employees working at five used car dealerships in the UK.
The company is also in the process of launching a local after-sales service to support the operation.
Additionally, all of its vehicle inventory work will be performed at its preparation center, on a 10-acre site at the Morley Way Industrial Estate.
Bosses say that for a short time, the two newly acquired centers will remain closed while major renovations are carried out.
The former SW Car Superstore branch on John Wesley Road in Werrington is scheduled to open in November 2021.
Further renovations, totaling £ 4million, will be carried out at the Padholme Road East branch, with the site set to reopen in early 2022.
Peter Waddell, Managing Director of Big Motoring World, which moved its national vehicle preparation center to Peterborough two years ago for a £ 14million investment, said: âWe are delighted to invest more in the region.
âOur existing Peterborough based preparation center employs 240 exceptional staff who can process up to 250 cars per day, but all of these cars were previously retailed in and around London before today.
âWe look forward to providing a new and better car buying experience to the people of Peterborough and to further developing our workforce in this part of the country. “
SW Car Supermarket Managing Director Anton Khan will join Big Motoring World’s management team as Investor and COO.
Mr. Khan is also ready to take on the role of Group Managing Director when Mr. Waddell takes over as President after more than 35 years in the industry.
Mr. Khan said: âI am delighted to join Big Motoring World and build on the success of our two automotive supermarkets based in Peterborough.
âAs a resident of Peterborough, I have always been proud to serve and contribute to the local community.
“The news will allow us to bring more stock in demand to the region at exceptional prices, benefiting from vast economies of scale.”
