Traders can register with the municipality or MSME department: DC, Belagavi

Belagavi, June 4 (KNN) Belagavi Deputy Commissioner Nitesh Patil said it is up to the trader to decide where they want to get a permit from the municipality or the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) department.

He also ordered Belagavi City Corporation officials not to make the license compulsory and to harass traders.

“The issue of licenses should be left to their discretion as to where they can get them,” Patil said.

A few months ago, the Belagavi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) made a presentation on this issue to the DC as well as to the City Corporation Commissioner.

It can be recalled earlier that retail and wholesale traders were not allowed to be registered as MSMEs.

But to help traders affected by the Covid pandemic, the Ministry of MSMEs, through an official note issued on July 2, 2021, allowed traders to register on the Udyam portal. However, enrollment was limited to accessing priority sector loans. (KNN Office)
