• The Taigun GT will be available in two variants.
  • It will come with alloy rims and red highlights inside and out.
  • The 1 liter TSI engine should be limited to the standard variants.
  • Probably at a price between Rs 10.5 lakh and Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Volkswagen Taigun GT started arriving at dealerships ahead of its launch on September 23. Online reservations for VW’s compact SUV are already underway on the official website, and you can also book one at your nearest dealer.

The Taigun’s ‘GT’ nickname will be reserved for the larger 1.5-liter TSI engine (the 1-liter TSI mill will be supplied in standard variants). To offer more options to buyers, the automaker will offer the Taigun GT in two variants: GT (manual) and GT + (DSG). The latter will carry additional features such as a digital driver’s screen and a sunroof.

Take a look at the detailed specifications of both engines:

VW Taigun 1.0 TSI

VW Taigun 1.5 TSI

Power (PS)

Torque (Nm)

Transmission option

6-speed manual / 6-speed automatic torque converter

6-speed manual / 7-speed DSG (dual clutch)

The Taigun GT will get a distinctive wheel design and red brake calipers to separate from the standard compact SUV. There are of course the “GT” badges on the grille, fenders and tailgate.

Inside, ambient lighting and the driver’s digital display get the same red theme instead of the standard model’s white and blue finish, respectively. Ventilated seats, however, will be limited to 1-liter TSI versions only.

Now, to the functionalities. The VW Taigun has an 8 inch digital driver display, a 10.1 inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, connected car technology, a wireless phone charger, a single-pane sunroof, cruise control and keyless entry with push-button start.

Passenger safety is provided by up to six airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, electronic stability control and tire pressure monitoring.

The price of the VW Taigun will likely be between Rs 10.5 lakh and Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom), which places it in the same league as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq and the next MG Astor.
